Keep it Private, Keep it Courteous
There is no doubt that social media now permeates our lives on a daily basis. People post pictures of their vacations, graduations, holidays, and many more happy occasions on a regular basis. Sometimes we don’t realize how many private details we expose to the whole world in the public arena of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more.
What about the not-so-happy times?
New York and New Jersey Divorce Mediation
Many people take to the internet to broadcast negative posts about their estranged spouses, hoping to win the battle of public opinion online. Couples who have had common friends with their spouses for many years may use negative posts to sway those friends into believing they are the good spouse, and all the problems with the dissolving marriage are the fault of the other spouse.
This is all detrimental to a successful resolution.
Nothing good will come of this type of behavior, in fact there is a very good chance that this type of resentful conduct will cause serious harm. The damage may be emotional to the spouses, to their children, to their families, and to their financial situations.
Remember that social media accounts, even if set to “private” can be hacked and exposed. Social media posts can be captured by a screenshot and later, even after being deleted, can be resurrected as evidence.
Inflammatory social media posts can be hurtful to friends, to family, and worst of all, to children who are caught in the middle. Social media posts can also be used as evidence which may hurt your case should it go to trial.
